Hello! I am excited to meet you! As you know, the first course meeting will take place on Oct. 20 (I will send a Zoom invitation before).
Before the first meeting, however, you have three assignments:
- Complete the Information Form with all your pertinent details and send it to me at: dro@accent-american.com.
- Make an audio file with your speech sample (see Instruction Sheet).
- Sign up for your ½ hour (30 min) evaluation time with me.
The available times are:
- Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022 – 11:00 am – 3 pm, EST
- Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022 – 11:00 am – 3 pm, EST
Please let me know (by email) at least TWO time slots which would work for you – for ex., Weds., Oct 12, 11:00 – 11:30 am, EST and Thursday, 12:00 – 12:30 pm, EST.
I will do my best to accommodate all preferences, although I may need to ask a few of you for other times if there is a conflict with another participant. Please secure a time as soon as possible. Thank you!
Additional course details:
On-line classes will be held using Zoom, and I will send you the invitations at least one day before each class. After each class I will upload a Homework Sheet for that class to this page. This will detail what you should practice in the following week before the next class. I may send other documents and audio files using Dropbox (if you don’t have a Dropbox account, never fear – it’s free and easy to use).
Practice expectations: Because changing one’s speech requires developing a new habit, you must practice daily if you expect to see any changes. As stated in the initial email for this course, changing speech habits takes approximately 3 – 4 months, so this course will get you on your way to developing these new neural patterns in the brain, however you will need to continue practicing with the materials once the course is over. We will discuss how to practice in the Introduction class on Oct. 20.
Also, please note that the Oct. 20 class will only be one hour in length (5 – 6:00 pm, EST).
Materials: Before the course begins I will send you PDFs and audio files for your use during the class.
Logistical Agreement: The participants in the course agree to be on-time for each class. Missed classes will not be made up, although the participant will receive the video recording of the missed class.
Once the initial evaluation is completed, no refunds for part or the entire course will be given. Cancellation with return of full tuition is allowed up until October 10, 2022.
